Taizé Service
On special occasions, the Sparkling Choir of Love leads a contemplative chant service featuring Taizé and Chants of Presence. There are no services scheduled at present.
Taizé chants originated in an interfaith community founded in 1944 by Brother Roger Shütz, a classically trained musician, in the small French village of Taizé. Brother Roger was killed in 2005, but his meditative chants continue to be performed throughout the world. Famous participants in Brother Roger’s Taizé chant services included Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandela, and Václav Havel.
“Song is one of the most essential elements of worship. Short chants, repeated again and again, give it a meditative character.”
